Paul Menard, No. 27 Peak Chevy Top Qualifier for ECR Engines

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA.(February 19, 2012)–Seven cars powered by ECR Engines qualified today for the 54^thrunning of the Daytona 500 to be held February 26 at Daytona International Speedway. Qualifying will determine the lineup order for the February 23 Gatorade Duel races and the results of those two races will determine the final lineup for the Great American Race.

Paul Menard and the No. 27 Peak Chevy led off qualifying for this year’s 500 with a fast lap of 46.54 seconds at 193.374 mph. He qualified 14^th.

Jamie McMurray was the second of 49 drivers to attempt to qualify. The best lap for his No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevy was 46.91 seconds at 191.840 mph. He qualified 29^th.

Jeff Burton’s No. 31 Cat Chevy rolled out 17^thand ran a fast lap of 46.69 seconds at 192.777 mph. He qualified 23^rd.

Kevin Harvick pulled onto the track right after Burton. His No. 29 Budweiser/Rheem/Jimmy John’s Chevy clicked off a quick lap of 46.65 seconds at 192.914 mph. He qualified 20^th.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Target Chevrolet went next. His best lap was 46.73 seconds at 192.600 mph. He qualified 24^th.

Elliott Sadler was the 21^stqualifier in the No. 33 Kroger/General Mills Chevrolet. His best lap was 47.05 seconds at 191.270 mph. He qualified 35^th.

Regan Smith rolled off 29^thin the qualifying order. His fast lap in the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevy was 47.10 seconds at 191.063 mph. He qualified 38^th.

Dave Blaney was the 41^stdriver to qualify. The No. 36 Ollie’s Discount Outlet Chevrolet ran a best lap of 47.00 seconds at 191.506 mph. He qualified 32^nd.
